Kevin Dent Top Vote-Getter in Board Election

Incumbent Kevin Dent was the biggest vote getter in Saturday’s election for six seats on the McLean Community Center Board. First-time candidates Jay Howell was second, Robin Walker third. All three won three-year terms.

Craig Richardson, fourth, won a two-year term. The MCC Board released the following vote totals:

Kevin Dent – 345 (72 absentee)
Jay Howell – 329 (78 absentee)
Robin Walker – 316 (63 absentee)
Craig Richardson – 293 (33  absentee)

Defeated:
Tom Culligan – 274 (49  absentee)
Stanley Zuckerman – 266 (68  absentee)
Sylvia Buckland – 74 (11  absentee). She had withdrawn from the race but her name remained on the ballot.

Total Youth Ballots – 74

Craig McKenzie – 37 votes (McLean High School Area)
Sun Park – 37 votes (Langley High School Area)

Saturday’s vote was a record turnout — 780 ballots cast including 199 absentee votes.  In 2009, 470 ballots were cast, according to the board.

The MCC board is McLean’s only elected board and the only one that spends tax dollars.

The new members will join current members David Sanders, Chair, Susan Bourgeois, Lee Dicenso, Sean Dunn, and Risa Sanders at the board’s May 26 meeting.
