Bobbi Bowman, Editor, The McLean Ear

The McLean Ear is your old-fashioned newspaper delivered on your computer.  We’ll tell you what’s going on, who’s doing what, and why.  We’ll tell you about your neighbors and the folks who make McLean, McLean. We will always be accurate and fair.

We launched  this temporary site as a news-driven appetizer to tell you about the March 6 closing of the Dolley Madison Library, one of the most important institutions in our community.  We’ll also report other breaking news.We will launch a much expanded site in early May.

We will serve as the town square for McLean where all voices can be heard on issues affecting our schools, our roads, our homes, our children, and our seniors. We connect neighbors to each other.

I have known Bobbie for a few years and stood on that same beach in France. We met in France and have been friends ever since. I know her as a woman of integrity and fairness. Bobbie appreciates history and the reporting of it, past and present. I wish her great success in all the she endeavors to do.

  2. Great idea. Do you also post upcoming events.?

Yes we do. The expanded site which will launch in May will have a community calendar. If you have
events in the meantime, we would welcome them. That’s one of our major roles — to tell our McLean neighbors
    what’s happening where and when.

Can I get on your list of monthly reporting?

    • Thank you for your interest. We send out a weekly update Sunday telling our readers what’s coming up in the week ahead and the top three stories from the previous week. We’d be delighted add you.

  4. What a wonderful idea! I don’t live in McLean, but am the Marketing Coordinator for Color Wheel in Langley Shopping Center. Color Wheel has served the Greater McLean community since 1965, and we will celebrate our 45th anniversary this fall. Please add me to the weekly email update list.

  5. Hi, I think this is a great idea and would like to subscribe to this also.
I live in McLean Broyhill Estates and have a Junior at McLean HS. There are several orchestra events throughout the year which offer a free evening’s concert, performed by our talented students. Entertainment on your doorstep with free parking. The students, too, would appreciate the support.
Perhaps I could let you know the performance schedule for your calendar.
    Thanks, Eileen Nelson

    • Editor’s Note: Thank you for your interest in The Ear. And congratulations on your anniversary. We’ll happily add you to our e-mail alert to our neighbors. Thank you again.

I was thrilled to hear that Bobbi was publishing this important paper. I have lived in McLean since 1992 once I started my professional career post college. It’s really great to see McLean become more and more of a community with it’s own culture and fabric. Bobbi has been a friend of mine instantly when we met at one our favorite community gathering places: Greenberrys Coffee House. I’m thrilled to see this publication and will be contributing to it regularly.
