MCLEAN, VA – Sixty-five years ago today, Germany surrendered ending World War II in Europe. The Allies were still fighting their way through the Pacific. Okinawa and the bombing of two atomic bombs were still to come before the Japanese surrender Sept. 2, 1945.
The toll of the war incalculable. Europe from western France to Moscow lay in ruins. The Allied soldiers that included millions of American GI’s literally saved this world in their youth. We can never repay them. Continue reading
