Thank you for your great support of The McLean Ear during its first four months. As of June 14, 2010, we  have moved to our new site to give you  much more news and information about our hometown of McLean Virginia. Please bookmark the new site which includes:

  • A map showing the more recent home sales with the address and the selling price.
  • A  map showing crime incidents around McLean.
  • A map showing  all McLean schools both public and private, complete with links to demographic information, PTAs  etc.
  • The McLean Morning Report  — a summary of McLean news, tidbits and gossip from around the community.

A McLean Turf Battle

MCLEAN, VA – McLean Youth Soccer and the Lewinsville Coalition squared off at each other Thursday night at a public meeting over a plan to replace grass with turf on a field facing Spring Hill Road at the Spring Hill Recreation Center.

McLean Youth Soccer  (MYS) proposed the turf field because it’s safer, cheaper to maintain, allows year-round play. Surrounding homeowners, many of whose children belong to MYS, complained about noise, more traffic, and the possibility of future lights on the new field.

McLean HOT Lanes Meeting Tonight

MCLEAN VA – Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust and state Delegate Barbara Comstock organized Wednesday (tonight’s) public information meeting on a proposal from the private builders of the four toll lanes  to extend them from Old Dominion Drive to  beyond Georgetown Pike, Rt. 193.

When: 7:30 pm Wednesday, June 9

Chain Bridge Road Closes for the Weekend

MCLEAN, VA – Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) through Tysons Corner will close this weekend beginning Friday night.

The builders of the new HOT (High Occupancy Toll) lanes need to stop traffic to  demolish the old I-495 south bridge over Route 123. The weekend closure will start at 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 11 and last until 5 a.m. Monday, June 14.

Public Meeting on Extending HOT Lanes in McLean

MCLEAN, VA – McLean residents will get a chance  Wednesday to ask questions about a recent proposal to extend the new HOT lanes north of Georgetown Pike.

Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust and state Delegate Barbara Comstock have organized a public information meeting on a proposal from the Transurban Group and Virginia Megaprojects  to extend the HOT Lanes project on the I-495 Beltway to beyond Georgetown Pike, Rt. 193.

Three Arrested at McLean 7-11 after Attempted Robbery

MCLEAN, VA –  Fairfax County police report that two men and a woman were arrested Tuesday, June 1, after an alert officer noticed suspicious activity outside a 7-Eleven adjacent to Rocco’s Italian Restaurant on Chain Bridge Road.

McLean Citizens Agenda: Tysons Corner Plans, Lowering our Water Bills

MCLEAN, VA – The McLean Citizens Association, our unofficial, town council, meets Wednesday night to talk about the plan the Fairfax County Planning Commission recently approved to transform Tyson’s Corner into a city   with the coming of  Metro. There’s also interesting information about our water bills.

Magarity Road closes again tonight

MCLEAN, VA – Magarity Road is closing between Olney Road and Great Falls Street again for Metro subway construction the nights of June 1-4.

Then June 4-5, a major lane shift occurs eastbound along Route 7  between Best Buy and Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) for construction of a new Metro station in the median.
